Once again, Audi is staying far ahead of the curve when it comes to in-vehicle technology. Audi's latest revelation is the "Virtual Cockpit".
Audi describes the Virtual Cockpit like this: "Everything in view, directly in front of the driver - The Audi virtual cockpit, a fully digital instrument cluster, is completely driver-focussed. The 12.3-inch TFT display depicts all the information in razor-sharp, brilliantly clear and high-contrast quality".
Originally introduced only the Audi TT, the Virtual Cockpit will soon be available on other models as well. The beauty of the Virtual Cockpit is that the driver is able to change their view of the completely digital dash view. Want the traditional speedometer/tachometer view? No problem. Prefer a map and navigation view? Sure, the speedometer and tach shrink and slide off to the sides, leaving the navigation predominant. If you prefer a more info-tainment oriented view, you can do that, too. You get the idea. There are no analog instruments whatsoever, everything on the digital screen. Even in bright sunlight, the screen is beautifully clear. This truly is the instrument cluster of the future.
